MALTA

Malta Island Tour Turquoise Water

Malta is home to some of the world's oldest free-standing structures, the Megalithic Temples, which predate both the Pyramids of Giza and Stonehenge.

This ancient city is stunning and incredibly clean. It was a gorgeous visit, but very hilly and built on cobblestone, so plan to carry the baby and leave the stroller at home. The hills are no joke, and to reach some of the iconic gardens and fortress walls, depending on where you start, you can easily break a sweat if doing the trek during the day. The food was incredible, and the main, pedestrian-only dining area had so many options. Typical European dinner format of lengthy meals; however, the city rolled up earlier than we expected (which is fine if you have kids!), but most things stopped serving food around 10 pm.

On the other island, accessible by boat or ferry, this fortress town has a lovely church and some nice shops. The whole island is very brown, intentionally built buildings to match the arid dirt landscape were initially surprising given the vibrant colors of other European port cities but once you get into it, it’s very charming. The roads are incredibly narrow and cars wiz by, so keep your kids close and, again, leave the stroller at home..
