Fresno-Yosemite International Airport [FAT]

If you’re traveling to the Central Valley, visiting Yosemite/Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks or just want to avoid the chaos of LA/SFO, this is a great, small option with good direct flights around the West Coast and a very nice mothers room.

Nursing Mother’s Area:

  • Location: On the main hallway after you go through security you’ll see a door with a small blue sign on the right hand side as you walk away from Security.

  • Access: You use the courtesy phone to call and be let in.  I had to call twice and it took about 8 minutes for staff to arrive to let me in.  They were very friendly, but plan accordingly for a short wait.

  • Set-up: It is actually one of the cleaner and nicer ones I’ve visited (not sure it is used very often) and it has cute decor, a sink, chair, table, outlets and is very quiet.  A great little spot with room if you have other kids you need to be wrangled while nursing or pumping.

Other Notes:

  • There are some trees at the entrance that kids can run through.  This is before security, not really a play area, but cute for pictures if you’re new to the area.

  • There’s an info desk right next to bag check (or on your left as you exit the terminal before bag check) that has pamphlets to all the area attractions.  All bathrooms also have changing tables which is nice.

  • Baggage check can take a LONG time depending on your airline, time of flight and if you have priority status. Typically they have just one staff member checking bags and they sometimes manage multiple airlines at once. Allow extra time, even if you just need to drop bags as there are not express bag drop lines most often.
